Santa Teck and Daniel Klauz have been busy testing out the new sleigh. So here I am, Rudolph, tasked to blog on their behalf, while they try out the new toy. Hmm how are they going to test it without me. Great.
So we had a combined meeting last Sunday for Clusters 4, 5, 7 and 8. Clarence did a great job rousing most of us from a state of hibernation before Eunice and her crew led us in rehearsing for the big day. We were also treated to renditions of O Holy Night and Christmas Isn't Christmas. Check out the videos below:

The Training Continues...
Alright people!
As you all know, C@O is in full swing now and we're seeing more and more people joining us for our trainings. After our official opening last week, our clusters have all been organising their own individual training sessions covering many aspects of what will be needed to be a blessing at Orchard Road this coming Christmas!
Most of the clusters had their trainings earlier into the weekend but I managed to catch some clusters on Sunday as well! Here are some pictures showing you what was going on:
As you can see, we were doing many things from mere briefings to training on how to sell this event to games, balloon sculpting and carolling practise! It was really a fun filled day. Even our choir's youngest member was having so much fun! (See above pictures) Heh heh heh.

So if you're interested, do e-mail us quickly! Let's all get excited to be a blessing along Orchard during this Christmas season!
Coming up next week, some clusters will be taking to the streets putting to practice what they've learnt in being a blessing as well as balloon sculpting so do look out for our many stories and pictures!

Come one, come all!
This is probably the first time you're reading a post from me. Well, just to let all you people out there know, Christmas @ Orchard (C@O) is in full swing!
Just this past Sunday was our official launch with many of our friends coming together just singing carols as well as having fun and games together. Some of us were having fun doing balloons while some of us just played games and had a great time together.
Our clusters from all over are continuing their own training and programmes, so if you're interested do sign up as soon as possible! We will be uploading some pictures and video interviews on the trainings and thoughts on this event so do check back on Monday!
Don't miss out the fun! Come one, come all!

Fun with balloons!
Cluster 2 (Lay Ching’s cluster) started their Befriender’s training last Sunday at Expo Hall 9 with a BANG! (literally) Yup! The air was filled with occasional “bangs!” as we learned the art of making balloon hats from our expert trainer, Charles. Ha ha. The balloons don’t normally burst so easily (they are high quality Kualatex balloons) but the air in Hall 9 tends to contain more static!
Nevertheless, our guys and girls had a fun and enjoyable time overcoming their fears of twisting the balloons and ended up with some really imaginative creations I must say! After a really short crash course, we were sent out to bless the people in Hall 9 with our balloons and also to find out the name, hobby and favourite food of 3 people each!
To summarise our learning, here’s what’s important when you meet new people.
1. Initiative – Make the first move by going up to the person to introduce yourself! You can start by asking where he is from and what he likes to do! Reciprocate by sharing something interesting about yourself too!
2. Sincerity – Let the person know you are sincere about knowing more about him/her. This can be communicated through your body language as well as your tone of voice. Smile more, maintain eye contact (don’t stare though!) and speak slowly. Be patient in listening and don’t cut the person off to talk to someone else halfway. If you need to, excuse yourself properly.
A good firm handshake (or light pat on the shoulder for those of same gender) also does wonders to let the person know he/she is valued as a guest and communicates warmth and acceptance to the person.
3. Teamwork – When possible, go in pairs so that you can avoid awkward pauses when you are not sure what else to say! This will also let our guests know that we are not just individuals but part of a bigger family. Going in pairs or small groups also builds up your confidence as you are working as a team, not alone.
Well, I hope these pointers have been useful for you! Practice them every opportunity you have and let’s learn together to be good hosts to our friends and guests!
Cheers,
Joshua Teo
